Working on a poster for The Barnstormers' 82nd season that includes a production of Steel Magnolias, written by Robert Harling. This year or last, or somewhere in between, marks the 25th anniversary of the play's debut Today I strolled down my memory lanes of Natchitoches, Louisiana; that's where the play took place.
I chose the armadillo because I know that Harling thinks they're an important motif in the play. I know they are when it comes to the roads in southern towns and townships. Also, they're tough on the outside and fragile on the inside. Not like magnolias.....fragile on the outside, very hardy on the inside.
This armadillo is a bride, a fashion icon, a warrior and a lover;
