I've been looking for two things, both sketchbooks. One is mine and done. The other I bought, not "filled in", on a recommendation from one Kurt Vargo. It's out of print and expensive and titled "Sketchbook with Voices." Eric Fischl and Jerry Saltz put it together by asking some rock star artists (such as Chuck Close) to send in "what if's", "imagines" and "you shoulds". You're meant to draw, or paint or whatever from those suggestions.
It's a little disparaging because one of the opening comments says (not a direct quote), "If you make something and it looks like art, it probably isn't."
Me being such an optimist, I'm excited to start. And, "Art is what you think it is." (Benny Andrews...from Georgia).
Thanks to a loyal reader from Germany now in the states, and to another from Savannah, now in Spokane.
