What an absolute joy to hear painter and educator Michael Rich speak so eloquently with such humor and clarity about his work today in the student center at SCAD during deFINE ART. He made many great remarks, notations, but my favorite..."the paint is a recording of actions made."
Michael and I met (with painter and Mary Hartman) in our orientation "pod" when we all first started graduate work at SCAD in 1995. For this reason, I find his theories, revelations of his struggles and triumphs all the more relevant and interesting.
Gratitude to him, to the college and its faculty, staff and administration for yet another (!) excellent afternoon spent.
Heads up: Michael Rich and Sarah Walko will be back in Savannah in May. I highly recommend checking in on both of these artists' works.
